Morphy Auctions is a nationally recognized leader in the auction industry, known for presenting high-quality collectibles, antiques, and fine art with precision and care.  As our business continues to grow, we’re looking to add a detail-focused Entry-Level Photographer to our collaborative in-house photography team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a foundation in photography — especially DSLR cameras and lighting — who is eager to grow in a professional studio environment.

Position Summary

The Entry-Level Photographer will work closely with our experienced photography team to capture detailed, high-quality product images for both print and digital auction catalogs. This is a hands-on, studio-based role ideal for someone with a basic understanding of photography and a strong desire to grow their skills in a professional setting. The role involves learning and executing our established studio workflows, lighting setups, and image standards while maintaining efficiency and consistency across a high volume of items.

The ideal candidate will be receptive to feedback, eager to learn, and able to follow direction in a fast-paced, production-style environment. Strong attention to detail, time management, and a proactive attitude are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

• Carefully handle valuable and unique antiques and collectibles to ensure their safety.

• Photography of incoming auction inventory using DSLR cameras and off-camera studio strobe lighting setups.
• Study, understand, and follow company photography specifications.
• Set up lighting, backdrops, and photo stations under team guidance.
• Upload, rename, and organize image files within the server/database system.
• Collaborate with the photography team to maintain consistency and quality across all images.
• Assist in maintaining organization in the studio and warehouse inventory system.
• Constantly improve image quality using various techniques as directed.

Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge of DSLR cameras and manual shooting (aperture, shutter speed, ISO).
• Basic experience with off-camera lighting or studio strobes
• Basic knowledge of photo editing software and image capture programs.
  • Capture One, Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop is a plus.
• Ability to follow direction and work in a detail-driven, fast-paced environment.
• Photography coursework or a small portfolio of work is preferred.
  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree is a plus
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
