The in-house Photographer must be a collaborative, team-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and timelines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to translate complex artistic concepts into clear, accessible language. As a key member of the creative team, the Photographer plays a vital role in producing stunning product imagery that supports and elevates the branding of both The Paper Store and Uncharted across all channels— with a particular focus on enhancing our digital presence through high-quality, engaging visuals tailored for online and social media platforms in our omni-channel retail environment.

The Photographer reports into the Art Director with input from the Creative Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Be a TPS brand ambassador  
  • Design and execute photography that supports strategies aimed at creating a cohesive and unified customer experience across all channels—digital, social, in-store, catalog, and direct mail.
  • Capture visually compelling photographs of a diverse range of subjects—including hard goods, soft goods/apparel, styled room sets, people, events, and in-store environments—for use across multiple touchpoints, including digital, social (Instagram, TikTok), direct mail, and catalog.
  • Create compelling visual content—both still and motion-based—that brings products and brand stories to life through dynamic photography, motion graphics, and short-form video optimized for digital and social platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Digital, E-commerce, Social and Marketing teams to develop and maintain a consistent visual style that reflects the brand identity of both The Paper Store and Uncharted, while upholding creative standards across all channels.
  • Tasked with bringing The Paper Store and Uncharted to life across Digital, E-commerce, Social Media (Instagram, TikTok, and more), Catalogs, and Direct Mail through refined, high-impact photography and expert lighting.
  • Manage daily deadlines for product photography—both on and off-figure—in a fast-paced studio and on-location setting, while effectively communicating project status and completion.
  • Organize and maintain photography assets on the server with accurate folder structures and naming conventions. Coordinate with external vendors to ensure photo editing meets quality standards and specific requests.
  • Support product styling and perform photo editing tasks as needed, including color correction, retouching, and resizing, to uphold visual excellence.
  • Proactively meet all deadlines, work overtime when necessary, and communicate promptly when additional support is required.
  • Maintain and care for photographic and lighting equipment in the shared Photo Room, ensuring all tools are in optimal condition.
  • Develop and follow standardized procedures that drive quality, efficiency, and productivity in a high-volume environment.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Portfolio must be submitted that includes examples of integrated brand campaigns across digital, social, and print.
  • Available for occasional travel, late nights, and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Self-starter with a proactive, “whatever it takes” mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Positive, flexible, and energetic team player.
  • Ability to work up to 5 days per week at our Photography Studio in the Corporate Office, Acton, MA.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor consistent with company standards.
