Job Description
The Multimedia Specialist supports the mission of South Plains College by creating dynamic, engaging, and visually compelling content across digital and traditional media platforms. This position plays a key role in enhancing the College’s brand visibility, strengthening audience engagement, and supporting recruitment, retention, and community outreach initiatives. The Multimedia Specialist works collaboratively with the Marketing & Communications team to plan, produce, and publish high-quality videos, photos, graphics, and digital media that communicate the SPC story. The primary focus of this position is on live streaming & videography, including athletic broadcasts, commencements, and other major campus events. Additionally, the specialist will provide graphic design and photography support to enhance the college’s overall marketing and communications strategy. Live Streaming and Videography Support (Primary Role) · Manage and execute live streaming of athletic events, commencements, and other major campus activities, ensuring high-quality broadcast standards. · Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain video production and streaming equipment. · Edit video content for social media, website, and other digital platforms, optimizing for audience engagement. · Collaborate with Athletics, Student Life, and college administration to provide comprehensive multimedia coverage. Graphic Design (Support Role) · Design and produce supplemental print and digital assets (flyers, banners, social media graphics, website visuals) to support video and campaign initiatives. · Ensure all design work aligns with South Plains College branding guidelines. · Prepare files for print and digital publishing, coordinating with vendors when necessary. Photography (Support Role) · Capture photos of campus events, student life, faculty, and facilities as needed for marketing and communications. · Edit and organize photography assets for easy use in multimedia campaigns. Collaboration and Strategy · Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to develop multimedia strategies that enhance audience engagement. · Provide creative direction on video and streaming initiatives, ensuring consistency with college branding and messaging. · Stay current with industry trends in video production, live streaming, and digital storytelling. Administrative and Technical Support · Maintain and inventory multimedia equipment, including cameras, lighting, audio, and streaming tools. · Archive and organize multimedia assets for long-term use. · Assist in other marketing and communications tasks as needed.
Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in multimedia, videography, communications, or related field (or equivalent experience). Demonstrated experience in video production, live streaming, and editing (sports and event coverage strongly preferred). Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Strong technical skills with streaming platforms and broadcast hardware/software. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Preferred Skills: · Experience producing live streams for athletics or large-scale events. · Familiarity with social media platforms and video-first strategies. · Knowledge of graphic design and photography best practices. · Experience working in higher education or nonprofit environments. COMPUTER SKILLS Experience in applying current computer technology and software applications to essential responsibilities, duties, and tasks. Photography, graphic design skills and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite are a plus. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple and complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and reports. Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations to students, visitors, faculty, and other employees of the organization. WRITING AND REPORTING SKILLS Superb writing skills and knowledge of press release style guides. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS Ability to work with a wide variety of people and participate as a team member to accomplish multiple projects and goals. Ability to meet and greet the public in a positive and productive way. ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS Ability to organize tasks and activities essential to performing the specific duties and responsibilities of this job. Ability to organize multiple projects and tasks and meet production deadlines.
