Osprey Talent Solutions is supporting a small, highly technical operation in the greater Boston area that is planning to add a Mechanical Engineer in Q4.

This is a strong opportunity for a mechanically minded engineer who enjoys being close to the product, solving practical engineering problems, and contributing across design, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation. The role will be especially well suited for someone with strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, hands-on product or systems experience, and the ability to perform thermal modeling using SolidWorks.

This is not a narrowly defined corporate engineering seat. The right person will be comfortable working in a smaller technical environment where priorities can shift, business needs evolve, and engineers are expected to contribute beyond one tightly defined lane.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Perform thermal modeling and analysis to support product design, performance evaluation, and engineering decision-making
  • Use SolidWorks, including simulation or thermal analysis tools, to support mechanical design and analysis work
  • Contribute to mechanical design, product development, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, leadership, and other internal stakeholders to solve practical technical problems
  • Support documentation, technical reviews, design changes, and cross-functional engineering needs as required
  • Participate in hands-on problem solving related to products, systems, components, or customer-driven requirements
  • Adapt to changing priorities in a smaller operation where flexibility, ownership, and sound judgment matter

Ideal background:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical experience
  • Experience with thermal modeling, thermal analysis, heat transfer, or related mechanical engineering analysis work
  • SolidWorks experience, ideally including SolidWorks Simulation or thermal analysis tools
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and practical problem-solving ability
  • Hands-on engineering mindset with comfort working close to the product
  • Ability to support design, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-functional work as needed
  • Comfortable working in a small technical operation where responsibilities may evolve over time
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with engineering, operations, leadership, and customers when needed
  • The right person will likely be someone who enjoys practical engineering work, values ownership, and wants to contribute in a meaningful way without being boxed into a narrow corporate engineering lane.
