Avineon is seeking a Geospatial Database Administrator to oversee the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the Esri GIS enterprise systems, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of the GIS infrastructure. This individual will manage spatial data, integrate GIS with other enterprise systems, develop GIS applications, and provide advanced technical support.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

System Health Monitoring: Regularly check the health of the system to ensure optimal performance.

Ensure the portal is running smoothly and efficiently.

Verify that data is in a readable and editable format.

Ensure data is compressed appropriately.

Monitor the state of the database to ensure its integrity and reliability.


System Administration: Oversees the maintenance, and enhancement of Esri GIS enterprise systems.

Manage hardware, software, databases, and applications related to GIS.

Ensure the reliability, security, and performance of GIS infrastructure.

Knowledge of IT infrastructure and GIS solutions.

Enterprise GIS system training, cloud GIS certifications, and system design courses.


Data Management: Ensure the accuracy, integrity, reliability, and accessibility of spatial data.

Implement best practices for data management and storage.

Manages geospatial databases to ensure efficiency and reliability.

Expert knowledge of SQL and expertise in geospatial data formats.


System Integration: Requires a deep understanding of GIS platforms and configuration tools and can integrate GIS with other enterprise systems (BUILDER, Palantir, SAFER) and databases to meet organizational needs.

Understands ArcGIS Enterprise and associated SDK and API configurations to facilitate API communication between systems to ensure seamless integration.


Technical Support: Provide advanced technical guidance and support for the GIS team and GIS applications.

Assist GIS users with troubleshooting and technical issues.

Conduct training sessions and create documentation to support GIS users.



Education: 

Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Geographic Information System (GIS), geography, computer science, or five (5) years geoinformatics / geospatial science, cartography, or remote sensing experience.


Experience: 

Extensive knowledge of Esri ArcGIS software and capabilities: applications, dashboards, story maps, and surveys.

Three (3) years of experience applying geospatial analysis and related technology in support of operational planning, readiness, and exercises required for effective emergency preparedness and response in situations involving disasters, terrorism, or other national security related incidents.

Three (3) years of experience developing Geospatial applications using at least two of the following: Python, JavaScript, C#, Java, or related programming languages.

Three (3) years of experience in designing, developing, and testing ArcGIS web mapping


Additional Qualifications: 

Excellent (written and verbal) communication and relational skills, with emphasis on client and team member engagement.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team with strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills.


Clearance Requirement: 

Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Q-clearance.

Having an active Top Secret or DOE Q clearance is highly desirable.


Work Environment Requirement: 

Candidate may work virtually but is required to be on site for a minimum of 2 days per week.
