Field Service Representative โ Solar Inverter Technician (Traveling)
Position Overview
Aurora is seeking experienced Field Service Representatives to support inverter-focused work across utility-scale and commercial solar sites nationwide. This role is responsible for commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of solar inverters and associated systems in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hot and cold commissioning of utility-scale solar inverters (Sungrow, SMA, TMEIC, Schneider, etc.).
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, including firmware upgrades, diagnostics, and component replacement.
- Troubleshoot inverter faults (electrical, communication, and control issues) using manufacturer diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
- Conduct IV curve tracing, insulation resistance testing, and thermal imaging inspections to verify system performance.
- Complete service reports, checklists, and customer documentation accurately and on time.
Follow NFPA 70E, OSHA, and applicable electrical safety standards at all times.
- Provide training and technical support to clients and junior technicians on inverter operation and safety procedures.
Travel to job sites as required.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ yearsโ field experience with PV inverters, power electronics, or related electrical equipment.
- Strong knowledge of DC systems (600V-1500V) and AC systems up to 34.5kV.
- Proficiency with testing equipment such as Fluke multimeters, Meggers, thermal imagers, and IV curve tracers.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Willingness to travel nationwide for field assignments.
- Valid driverโs license required.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to work outdoors, lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks.
