The Mariana H. Qubein Arboretum & Botanical Gardens are a free public garden situated within the High Point University campus, offering tours and self-guided exploration.
Job Description
The Gardens & Arboretum team is seeking a creative and motivated student to manage and produce engaging content for Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok while capturing high-quality photographs of the campus gardens. This position combines social media management and photography, offering hands-on experience in digital marketing, visual storytelling, and landscape photography.
Job Location/ Hours Required
- Work takes place primarily outdoors in the university gardens across campus.
- Flexible scheduling with most work completed independently.
- Weekly check-ins with Garden Staff to go over strategies, content goals, and photography assignments.
- Up to 5 hours a week, not exceeding 20 hours per week across all campus jobs.
- If additional time is needed to complete assignments, adjustments will be discussed and approved as needed.
- All assignments will be completed any time outside of class hours. Employees are responsible for recording their hours accurately in Workday.
Responsibilities:
- Create and curate engaging content for Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
- Edit and submit photos and videos that align with the Gardens & Arboretum brand voice.
- Schedule posts using Later and manage content calendars.
- Develop creative ideas for showcasing seasonal beauty, events, and educational plant features.
- Monitor trends and incorporate them into content strategies.
- Collaborate with the garden team to meet marketing and storytelling goals.
- Submit photos and content by weekly deadlines.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok (personal or professional).
- Strong photography skills with a camera or high-quality phone camera.
- Students with a DSLR or other mirrorless camera are encouraged to apply. If you do not have a personal camera, access to university equipment may be available.
- Basic video/photo editing skills using CapCut, Photoshop, or similar editing programs.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and navigate uneven terrain.
- Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Minimum 3.0 overall GPA.
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with scheduling software (Later) and photo editing tools.
- Interest in plants, nature, or environmental conservation.
- Creative eye for visual storytelling.
