The iconic Hotel del Coronado is looking for a Destination Planning Manager to join the Sales and Events team! Join one of the last surviving wooden Victorian beach resorts in the world and after a $400M renovation and expansion, the resort is more stunning than ever.

Located on Coronado Island just minutes from Downtown San Diego, this 28-acre property was built in 1888 and has over 750 rooms (to include cottages and villas), 65,000 square feet of banquet space, and 10 food and beverage outlets. This includes 4 restaurants, 2 bars, food truck, marketplace, ice cream shop, and in-room dining.

In this role, you will serve as a key leader in the execution and oversight of Commercial Team support initiatives, including pre-planning, Group Sales, Leisure Sales, Marketing, Catering & Event, and VIP/FAM site inspections. This role provides strategic coordination across departments to elevate the client experience, streamline planning processes, and ensure high-impact site presentations and program development.

What will I be doing?

Primary Responsibilities / Essential Functions:

  • Site Inspection & FAM Trip Management
    • Lead all planning, execution, and post-inspection wrap-up of site visits, FAM trips, and VIP pre-planning experiences.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding visit logistics, agenda creation, and service excellence.
    • Develop customized itineraries in collaboration with Sales, Catering, and Marketing teams to reflect client goals and business potential.
  • Commercial Team Support
    • Collaborate closely with Group and Leisure Sales, Catering & Events, and Marketing teams to ensure alignment of all touchpoints throughout the sales and planning process.
    • Support creation of client experiences, and on-site activations to support the conversion of key business.
    • Lead the coordination of pre-event planning visits, menu tastings, venue walk-throughs, and department briefings.
  • Operational Leadership
    • Oversee the "show readiness" of guest rooms, suites, meeting spaces, and public areas for high-profile inspections and events.
    • Interface with key operational departments (Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, Banquets) to guarantee flawless execution.
    • Ensure accurate and timely generation of BEOs, amenity requests, vendor communications, and internal schedules.
  • Client Experience & Relationship Management
    • Coordinate VIP arrival/departure logistics, guestroom preferences, welcome amenities, and special moments.
    • Gather and evaluate client feedback post-inspection and post-program to inform process improvements and optimize closing ratios.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with Discover Coronado, SDTA, Hilton Worldwide Sales, and local partners to enhance destination appeal.
  • Project & Process Management
    • Track and report on KPIs such as site inspection volume, conversion rates, and guest satisfaction scores.
    • Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures, and best practices for Commercial team support.
    • Identify opportunities for improvement, cost savings, and increased efficiency across planning operations.

Salary Range: The annual salary range for this role is $70,000 - $75,000 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
