Position Description:
Outpost Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented System Safety Engineer to support the C-UAS Program at Redstone Arsenal. This role involves managing and executing system safety engineering tasks for the C-UAS Program, ensuring compliance with military safety standards and supporting the safety of weapon and combat systems used by the Department of Defense (DoD).
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist in the application and management of a System Safety Program for one or more weapon/combat systems (Applying systems like- IAW Mil-Std-882E and DA Pam 385-16)
- Conduct and coordinate system safety assessments and hazard analyses of hardware and software in a variety of DoD weapon and combat systems (missiles, rockets, radars, launchers, and communications) and related support equipment
- Prepare, update, or assist in the development of Safety Assessment Reports, Hazard Analyses, and System Safety Risk Assessments
- Prepare and review System Safety Management Plans (SSMPs) and System Safety Program Plans (SSPPs) and related weapon/combat systems program management safety documentation
- Conduct safety assessments of new, updated, and/or modified weapon/combat system hardware and software, including change, waiver, and exemption requests
- Assess design and system test documentation for incorporation of safety related requirements and testing to verify/validate system safety requirements
- Perform Technical Safety Reviews, using accepted Army techniques, and develop required documentation for Government acceptance
- Perform soldier interface safety assessments on weapon/combat systems and support equipment
- Meet/coordinate with system Government and contractor engineers, technical and test agency personnel, and Safety Office representatives to review safety-related documentation, test reports, test data, and theater incident data, and assess/coordinate safety implications and risk levels to Users
- Review prime contractor documentation for safety implications and assess risk levels and coordinate mitigation strategies
Basic Qualifications:
- US Citizen
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
- Bachelorβs Degree in Engineering, Science, or Related Discipline
- Minimum of 6-10 years of applicable System Safety experience
- Willingness to travel, up to 20%
- Must be able to work on-site at Redstone Arsenal
