Hiring Range:  $76,399 - $97,407 ($36.73 - $46.83) 
Hours:  8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Monday – Friday

***Hybrid schedule of up to 3 days a week upon successful completion of probationary period.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Serves as a professional surveyor for the City of Durham to provide project support and project management duties for a variety of the City of Durham Public Works Survey Projects. Projects may consist of non-gravity utilities, gravity storm water systems, city park surveys, city property surveys and transportation related improvement projects. Will be required to provide management and project oversight for assigned survey projects, provide detail list of work to be completed for each project, communicate these items to the survey field crew, process conventional data, level data and GPS data, be familiar with the NC State Plane Coordinate System, provide final mapping as needed for design purposes, provide easement exhibits, recordable plats and legal descriptions.
  •  Attends meetings on all types of survey / engineering systems and interacts with internal and external customers and provide assistance as needed.
  • Provides technical and administrative support to supervising professional; responding to and investigating questions or concerns; and typing and sending technical correspondence.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in survey or a directly related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Survey Intern Certification with at least five years of survey or engineering related experience.
  • Requires a valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record acquired within a time frame established by the City.
  • Requires CAD experience with AutoCAD, Micro Station, Carlson or related CAD packages.

Additional Preferred Skills

  •  Certification as a Professional Surveyor.
