About Helogen

Helogen is building factories in space to power the next industrial revolution — manufacturing advanced biomaterials and enabling drug discovery that is impossible on Earth. The company has already launched two satellites, won the NASA TechLeap prize for automation and manufacturing, and is backed by leading space investors including RRE and Aurelia.

This is a 12-person team at the exact inflection point between proving the technology and scaling it commercially. The work is real, the missions are launching, and the hardware has already been to space.

The Opportunity

Helogen is looking for an Aerospace Structures & Thermal Engineer to own structural and thermal design end-to-end on their next generation of spacecraft. You will be the one answering the critical question: will this vehicle survive? From early concept through flight, you will lead analyses, drive mass reduction, select materials, and work hands-on with hardware in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment.

This is a rare opportunity to have your fingerprints on actual flight systems at a company pioneering the next industrial revolution.

What You'll Do

  •       Design primary structures, load paths, internal supports, and hard points; lead mass reduction efforts, simplify manufacturing, and maintain structural margins
  •       Perform structural and thermal analyses including FEA, thermal modeling, and margin calculations using tools such as ANSYS to validate hardware will survive flight environments
  •       Select and evaluate materials including composites, ablatives, and thermal barrier systems for high-temperature and extreme aerospace environments
  •       Develop and execute qualification test plans covering structural, thermal, vibration, and environmental testing through to flight certification
  •       Collaborate with vehicle design, GNC, systems engineering, and manufacturing teams to deliver integrated, flight-ready hardware
  •       Support supplier selection, manufacturing oversight, hardware integration, and production planning
  •       Participate in design reviews, technical decision-making, anomaly investigations, and post-flight assessments

You Should Have

  •       3+ years of experience in aerospace structures and thermal engineering
  •       Hands-on experience with structural and thermal analysis including FEA and thermal modeling
  •       Experience selecting and working with aerospace materials including composites and high-temperature systems
  •       Experience developing and executing qualification and environmental test plans
  •       Comfort working across disciplines in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment

Nice to Have

  •       Experience with flight-certified hardware that has flown on actual missions
  •       Background in thermal protection systems or ablative materials
  •       Experience supporting launch campaigns and post-flight analysis
