The Aerial Ground Hand supports aerial linemen and crew members in the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead telecommunications systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe and efficient job site operations by assisting with material handling, traffic control, equipment setup, and general ground support duties.
Assist aerial linemen with the installation of fiber optic and coaxial cable on utility poles.
Load, unload, and transport tools, materials, and equipment to job sites.
Set up ladders, cones, warning signs, and traffic control devices.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment as directed.
Pull cable, secure lines, and support strand and lashing operations.
Maintain a clean and organized work site.
Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
Perform basic site preparation and restoration tasks.
Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors.
May assist with bucket truck operations and spotting equipment.
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous construction or telecom experience preferred but not required.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
Comfortable working around heavy equipment and at active roadways.
Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred but not required).
Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
Willingness to learn and grow within the telecommunications field.
Outdoor construction setting.
Exposure to varying weather conditions.
May require travel to different job sites.
Overtime and weekend work may be required.
Frequent bending, lifting, climbing, and standing.
Ability to work in close proximity to elevated work being performed.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
