Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Aerial Cable Foreman to oversee and manage the installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial cable systems. The Foreman will lead and work alongside a crew of technicians and laborers, ensuring the safe and efficient completion of projects related to cable infrastructure, including telecommunication, and fiber optic lines. This role requires a strong understanding of aerial cable installation procedures, safety standards, and crew management.
Responsibilities
- Crew Leadership: Supervise, lead, and direct a team of cable installers and technicians during the installation and maintenance of aerial cable lines. Ensure work is done to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Project Management: Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of aerial cable projects, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule and within budget. Report on project progress and any issues to the Project Manager.
- Installation & Maintenance: Oversee and participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial cables, poles, and associated equipment. Ensure proper techniques are used for cable pulling, rigging, and splicing.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce adherence to all safety protocols, regulations, and industry standards. Conduct safety meetings and ensure team members are trained in safe practices, equipment usage, and emergency procedures.
- Equipment Handling: Ensure that all equipment, tools, and vehicles used in the field are properly maintained and in good working condition. This includes aerial lifts, trucks, and rigging equipment.
- Quality Control: Monitor and inspect work done by the crew to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications. Conduct post-installation inspections and address any deficiencies or repairs required.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate with clients, stakeholders, and property owners as needed. Address is customer concerns and ensure customer satisfaction with the work performed.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including time logs, material usage, and progress reports. Submit required documentation to the office or project manager regularly.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in aerial cable installation or related field, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of aerial cable systems, installation techniques, and safety procedures.
- Ability to operate and maintain aerial lift equipment, bucket trucks, and cable handling tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
- Certification in aerial lift operation and fall protection (or willingness to obtain).
- First Aid and CPR certifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions, including varying weather and challenging environments.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 pounds) and work at heights.
- Comfort working with ladders, aerial platforms, and climbing poles as required.
Additional Skills:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Flexibility to work overtime or on weekends as needed to meet project deadlines.
