Job Summary

Blade HQ is one of the largest knife and EDC retailers in the world. We carry thousands of knives and gear from top brands like Benchmade, Spyderco, Microtech, and many more. Our video content helps customers learn about products, discover new gear, and make better buying decisions. We're building a high-output video studio inside our warehouse and are looking for a talented videographer to help bring that content to life.

Our YouTube Videographer will work alongside our on-camera host and Creative Director to film product-focused video content. This role is primarily focused on video production and shooting, including camera operation, lighting, product b-roll, and managing the filming process. While editing experience is a plus, the primary responsibility is capturing high-quality footage efficiently and consistently. This role will begin part-time as the video program ramps up and transition into a full-time position by June 2026.

What You'll Do

Video Production

  • Film YouTube videos with our on-camera host
  • Operate cameras, lighting, and audio equipment
  • Capture clean, engaging talking-head footage
  • Shoot high-quality product b-roll and close-ups
  • Ensure footage is well-framed, properly lit, and production-ready

Shoot Planning

  • Collaborate with the Creative Director to plan weekly video shoots
  • Help prepare shot lists and filming schedules
  • Stage products and reset scenes during filming

Product & Studio Preparation

  • Pull knives and gear from the warehouse for filming
  • Organize products for demonstrations and comparisons
  • Maintain a clean and efficient studio setup

Footage Organization

  • Organize footage and file structures for the editing team
  • Ensure footage is labeled and delivered properly after shoots

Occasional Editing (Optional Skill)

  • Assist with short-form editing if needed
  • Support overflow editing during busy production periods

Weekly Production Output

The Virginia video team supports the production of approximately:

  • 4 YouTube long-form videos
  • 35–40 short-form videos
  • 2 warehouse update videos

You will play a key role in helping capture the footage needed to produce this content each week.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Must be 18+ years old to apply and have a high school diploma/GED
  • 2+ years of experience filming video content with DSLR, mirrorless, or cinema cameras
  • Strong understanding of lighting, framing, and audio
  • Experience filming product or talking-head content
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong organizational skills for managing footage and shoots
  • **MUST PROVIDE PORTFOLIO OR EXAMPLES OF YOUR WORK TO BE CONSIDERED FOR POSITION**

Preferred

  • Experience editing in DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, or similar software
  • Familiarity with YouTube or social media content production
  • Interest in knives, EDC gear, or outdoor products (or willingness to learn)

Other Requirements

  • Some travel and weekends required for trade shows, 3 – 4 per year, depending on need
  • Safe handling of knives
  • Lifting up to 30 lbs occasionally.

Ideal Candidate

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Enjoy working with cameras and building efficient production workflows
  • Like creating product-focused video content
  • Thrive in a collaborative creative environment
  • Take pride in producing high-quality visuals quickly and consistently
  • Want to help build a growing video content program
