Position Summary:

The Videographer and Content Producer’s primary responsibility will be assisting the Communications team in the daily creation, management and coordination of visual storytelling, social media content, and media assets for Georgia Aquarium, Inc. The Videographer and Content Producer will support the Marketing & Communications Department in developing creative and engaging assets to support communications campaigns that keep the media and the public informed of Georgia Aquarium programs, research and conservation initiatives, promotions and the mission.  This position will create consistent high-quality content in a fast-paced environment to keep Georgia Aquarium in the news and on the forefront of social media trends.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage visual and media assets for all communications channels including social media, YouTube, blog/newsroom, communications campaigns, video/image library and support other department channels like website and email assets.

2. Create compelling visual storytelling assets to enhance Georgia Aquarium’s social presence and digital presence.

3. Collaborate with Marketing and Communications team members to develop and implement comprehensive communications plans keeping the public informed of Georgia Aquarium promotions and events that are applicable in key local, regional and national target markets across multiple channels, including social media, daily newspapers, magazines, broadcast, radio and digital influencers.

4. Establish and maintain effective internal department relationships to create compelling content, including leading or helping facilitate brainstorming or fact-finding meetings and outreach.

5. Work with the digital media and marketing departments to align communications plans.

6. Coordinate interviews, filming, and assets for internal projects and communications campaigns as it relates to video, image, and social content.

  1. Coordinate appropriate Aquarium spokespersons and prep appropriate teams; write talking points and messaging.
  2. Edit all video projects in Adobe Premiere.
  3. Seek approvals by appropriate Georgia Aquarium parties.

7. Work with the Senior Manager of Content Marketing and Production to drive visual engagement strategy with the local, regional, national, and digital media.

8. Manage field research and off-site filming opportunities.

9. Assist Senior Manager of Content Marketing and Production in the management of production and filming plans for all Georgia Aquarium external and internal milestones, research and conservation projects, animal care, animal transports, veterinary procedures and other activities deemed essential to effectively communicating Georgia Aquarium, Inc.’s mission and public perception.

  1. Develop production plan alongside Georgia Aquarium zoological, veterinary and internal staff.
  2. Manage the hiring and coordinator of all third-party contractors.
  3. Manage the branding, messaging and production prior-to, during and after production.
  4. Coordinate production with zoological and research partners.
  5. Assist in obtaining visuals while on-site during filming projects.

10. Assist Senior Manager of Content Marketing and Production with overseeing contractors, agencies or third-party partnerships as it relates to filming, photography, and digital media needs.

11. Ability to edit and proofread efficiently, honestly, and correctly for colleagues and outside partners using AP Style.

12. Ability to adapt communication plan to communication environment and circumstance.

13. To perform other duties as workload necessitates.

Qualifications:       

1. At least 3 years of experience in a social media, videography or communications career preferred.

2. Bachelor’s degree in public relations/media relations, communications or journalism preferred.

3. Experience in managing filming productions.

4. Experience with Sony cameras, Adobe Premiere Pro, or comparable equipment/software preferred.

5. Excellent interpersonal and management skills and the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels within the organization, community and with business and political leaders who influence the Aquarium’s success.

6. Demonstrated leadership, strategic-thinking and problem-solving skills.

7. Demonstrated strong analytical and organizational skills with consistent attention to detail.

8. Ability to consistently meet deadlines and maintain a high level of quality.

9. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.

10. Ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment.

11. Versatile and self-directed.

12. Demonstrated ability to share creative and new ideas.

13. Ability to be flexible and shift priorities to meet departmental requirements.

14. Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.

  1. Even when working outside of the building for field research or other off-site trips.

15. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

16. Proficiency with Lightroom, video editing software, Adobe Audition, After Effects.

17. It’s not mandatory, but being scuba certified is a plus.
