Position Summary

The Marketing and Communications Department at the College of Saint Benedict (CSB) and Saint John’s University (SJU) invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), benefit-eligible position of Videographer.

The Videographer plays a crucial role in the Marketing and Communications team, focusing on creating engaging and high-quality video content that showcases the dynamic campus environment, academic programs, and community events at the College of Saint Benedict (CSB) and Saint John's University (SJU). This role demands a blend of creative vision and technical expertise in video production and editing.

The posted wage represents CSB and SJU's good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will be dependent upon several factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills, and may fall outside of the range indicated.

Responsibilities

Event Videography (30%)

  • Capture video footage of various campus events, including academic seminars, sports events, cultural festivals, and student activities.

Marketing and Promotional Videos (30%)

  • Produce videos for marketing campaigns, website content, social media platforms, and promotional materials.

Video Editing (25%)

  • Edit and produce final video outputs, incorporating graphics, effects, and sound as needed.

Project Coordination (10%)

  • Work closely with the marketing team and other departments to plan and execute video projects.

Additional Duties (5%)

  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in videography and video editing, preferably in an educational or corporate environment.

  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).

  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of video projects.

  • Strong written communication skills sufficient to write, prepare, and edit materials such as articles, memos, reports, presentations, etc., using correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence construction.

  • Customer services skills sufficient to actively listen to and understand customer needs and provide accurate information and appropriate alternatives in a timely, thorough, courteous, respectful, and professional manner in person, over the phone and in writing.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and under multiple deadlines. A wide degree of creativity and self-motivation is expected.

  • A willingness to improve skills and knowledge. This includes attending training seminars and self-study.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet operational needs, including evenings and weekends.

  • Understanding of the higher education marketing trends and best practices is preferred.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to perform the physical duties of the position, including working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain, walking long distances, standing for extended periods, and lifting or moving video gear and supplies.

  • Requires working at a computer for extended periods, including typing, reading from a screen, and using various software programs essential for the role.

Travel Requirements:

  • Regular travel between the campuses of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University.
