Description

General Description
Under general direction, the Tourism & Destination Marketing Coordinator is responsible for supporting tourism promotion, destination marketing, visitor engagement, and community partnership efforts for the City of Yukon. This position assists with marketing campaigns, digital communications, Route 66 initiatives, tourism events, and stakeholder relations designed to enhance Yukon’s visibility as a destination and support local economic development.

Examples of Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain Visit Yukon social media accounts and digital communications. 
  • Assist with tourism marketing campaigns and destination promotion efforts.
  • Update and maintain tourism-related website content.
  • Develop content including graphics, photography, video, and written communications.
  • Coordinate tourism partnerships with hotels, attractions, businesses, community organizations, and regional partners.
  • Assist with Route 66 initiatives and promotions.
  • Support tourism-related events, sponsorships, and marketing activities.
  • Track and report tourism marketing analytics and performance metrics.
  • Assist with visitor inquiries and tourism information requests.
  • Provide administrative support for tourism-related committees, meetings, and projects.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in marketing, communications, tourism, hospitality, event management, economic development, Main Street, chamber of commerce, or a related field.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in marketing, tourism, communications, public relations, hospitality, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with tourism organizations, chambers, municipalities, or nonprofit organizations preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record. 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing social media platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of basic graphic design and content creation platforms.
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Ability to build relationships with businesses, community organizations, and tourism partners.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Supplemental Information

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment with occasional travel throughout the community. 
  • May require attendance at evening and weekend events, meetings, and promotional activities.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach as needed.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and a City vehicle.
Supervision Received
Works under the general supervision of the Economic Development Director. 
Contacts and Relationships
  • Frequent interaction with businesses, tourism partners, visitors, community organizations, City staff, and the public.
  • Requires professionalism, diplomacy, and strong customer service skills.
