Summary: The Thermal Spray Technician is responsible for performing HVOF, plasma, and/or other thermal spray coating operations per customer requirements and job folder specifications.  

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following.  

  • This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and, as such will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.  
  • Review the job folder to verify the area of the part to be masked, cleaned, and/or blasted and coated. Confirm that all pre-coating requirements have been completed according to job folder specifications.  
  • Record and sign off on all applicable data defined in the job folder.  
  • Report all coating problems, inaccuracies in the job folder, damaged parts and/or tooling and  fixtures to Thermal Spray Lead.  
  • Make appropriate use of coating materials, equipment, and documentation. 
  • Follow in-process inspection procedures as needed to verify that current operation meets  customer and technical plan requirements.  
  • Complete assigned spray operation in a timely, accurate manner per work instructions. 
  • Accurately documentation of required data within the job folder.  
  • Attention to detail with a focused goal of zero rework.  
  • Maintaining high quality output.  
  • Excellent record of attendance with flexibility to work overtime as needed. 
  • Assisting supervisor in developing processes that will improve operations. 
  • 100% on-time delivery of assigned projects.  
  • Effective communication and collaboration with supervisor, plant leadership and co workers.  
  • Observe all Environmental, Health and Safety Policy requirements:  
  • Keeping work area neat and orderly at all times.  
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).  
  • Wearing appropriate respiratory gear when in thermal spray booth.  

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each  essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,  skills, and/or ability required.   • This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be  U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.  
  • Education – High School diploma and a technical certification or two year degree in a  technical field.  
  • Working experience in a production environment that demonstrates capability to learn  thermal spray processes.  
  • Ability to perform mechanical measurements (micrometers, calipers, etc.). 
  • Organized, detailed and accurate.  
  • Good communication skills with co-workers and management.  
  • Documentation skills with basic MS Office, specifically Excel and Word. 
  • Previous Plasma, thermal spray and/or HVOF spray experience preferred. 
  • Familiarity with large multi-axis robotics and associated programming tools preferred. 
  • Advanced documentation and computer skills preferred.  
  • Thermal spray process experience preferred.  

Physical & Mental Demands: The following physical and mental demands consist of, but are  not limited to the following.  

  • Must be able to work in a sitting and standing position for extended periods of time in an  office/industrial environment.  
  • Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.  
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions.  
  • Up to 50lbs lifted 20-80 times a day.  
  • May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.  
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.  
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.  
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone.
