required to join a growing precision engineering and rotating equipment service company in Houston, TX.
The Thermal Spray Technician will support the preparation and application of thermal spray coatings on metallic components such as propulsion shafts, hydraulic rods, bearing journals, and pump sleeves. This is a hands-on role ideal for individuals with prior machine shop, sandblasting, or coating experience, or mechanically inclined candidates ready to learn.
You’ll be working in a fast-paced, quality-focused environment applying coatings critical to wear resistance, corrosion protection, and component longevity.

Thermal Spray Technician / Surface Coating Technician / Flame Spray Operator Thermal Spray Technician Role
- Prepare and clean components for coating, including precision parts like shafts, rods, sleeves, and sealing surfaces
- Assist in thermal spray application processes including arc spray, flame spray, or HVOF on rotating equipment components
- Operate or assist in manual lathe setups for prep and post-spray machining
- Learn and apply proper masking techniques to protect non-coated areas
- Use micrometers, calipers, and other tools to verify tolerances and finished specs
- Read and interpret engineering drawings to follow coating specs and dimensional tolerances
- Assist in sandblasting and surface roughening processes before spray application
- Perform or assist in post-spray inspection and dimensional checks
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE when operating thermal spray and shop equipment
- Support other production tasks and team members as needed

Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3–5 years of experience in a machine shop, coating, or industrial setting preferred
- Prior exposure to thermal spray, welding, lathe operation, sandblasting, or mechanical prep work highly desirable
- Basic experience using micrometers, calipers, and reading blueprints
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs., and stand, walk, bend, and kneel for long periods
- Must be able to work around metals like aluminium, copper, bronze, and steel
- Strong attention to detail, excellent time management, and ability to multitask
- Willing to work additional hours as needed, including evenings or weekends
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and pass background/drug testing if required
