Job Summary

Pentagon Technologies seeks a Development Engineer to join our team in a pivotal, technically sophisticated, customer-facing capacity. This role spearheads the introduction of new parts and processes and oversees engineering change control to support operations. The ideal candidate is resourceful, decisive, and adept at independent problem-solving within a fast-paced environment. Organized and professional, they will represent our company before customers, demonstrating strong project management and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily engineering support to production to ensure safety, quality, and timely delivery of customer orders.
  • Lead customer-facing initiatives, including new part and process development and qualification projects.
  • Design and execute test coupons and analyses; leverage familiarity with lab equipment and techniques such as IC, outgassing, ICP‑MS, SEM, EDX, TOC, adhesion testing, thickness measurement, and etch rate evaluation.
  • Drive customer satisfaction by managing escalations to resolution.
  • Develop chemical processes, mechanical designs, and robotic programs.
  • Conduct risk assessments, including DFMEA and PFMEA.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and documents to develop precision cleaning, surface enhancement (e.g., grit blast, twin-wire arc spray, plasma/thermal coatings), and measurement procedures that meet customer specifications.
  • Provide technical training to internal teams on precision cleaning, surface enhancement methods, and equipment/metrology operations and maintenance.
  • Maintain and update Process Control Plans to manage quality variation for customer-supplied materials.
  • Implement and oversee Statistical Process Control and Measurement System Analysis programs; review process data, identify trends, and execute corrective actions.
  • Stay current on technical literature to innovate and develop new processes and ideas.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM discipline (Chemical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred), with a minimum of six years of engineering experience.
  • Strong analytical ability and advanced mathematics proficiency; skilled in spreadsheet/database management, general computing, and statistical reasoning.
  • ASQ Certification, Six Sigma, and/or Lean Manufacturing credentials are a plus.
  • Experience in plasma coating is required
  • Experience with semiconductor equipment is preferred.
  • Completion of JMP (statistical software) training is required.
