You will be tasked with impacting product design decisions by providing reliable analysis and thermal insight. In addition, you will lead the design and implementation of thermal solutions and participate in design reviews and technology investigations. Genuine curiosity and a sense of design ownership will help you navigate technical challenges. You will also be responsible for:specification and optimization of thermal control parameters, definition and guidance of thermal and flow experiments to characterize materials, components and systems, analysis of system test data and preparation of summary reports, communication of status and results to cross-functional teams and management.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 5+ years thermal design experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with thermal design and validation of data center products, using CAD, CFD, and temperature/flow data acquisition equipment
- Deep technical and functional expertise in conduction, convection (natural and forced), and radiation, as well as numeric modeling techniques and concepts
- Up to 10% Domestic and/or International travel
- Practical knowledge of TIMs, heat sinks, heat pipes, vapor chambers, fans and blowers for thermal mitigation
- Scripting (e.g. perl, python) and data graphics (e.g. MATLAB, SciPy)
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on Heat Transfer or Fluid Dynamics and 3+ years of experience
