Description

POSITION SUMMARY

  • The Technical Sales Manager - Thermal, drives the sales of thermal management equipment by providing technical expertise and guidance. This position focuses on reviewing specifications, analyzing mechanical drawings, and collaborating closely with North America Sales Team to help meet customer needs and drive business growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the technical solution strategy for complex opportunities (multi-site, custom configurations).
  • Govern compliance to specs; author and negotiate exceptions/alternates.
  • Lead cross-functional technical working sessions with sales, offering management, and engineering.
  • Produce high-fidelity technical proposals (system architectures, integration details, control narratives).
  • Sign off on critical technical deliverables and readiness for FWTs; lead onsite technical presence as needed.
  • Drive standardization of submittal templates and processes; implement lessons learned.
  • Act as primary technical liaison with strategic customers for opportunity-specific matters. Serve as the SME for Vertiv during customer visits and industry events as needed. 
  • Stay informed on industry trends, technologies, and materials to support continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Provide feedback to product managers to help guide product enhancements and future development.
  • Help to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the department. 
  • Provide training and mentorship to less experienced team members. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 8–10 years of technical sales/application engineering experience with proven success in complex deals.
  • Recognized SME in thermal systems; strong negotiation and risk management skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive outcomes without formal authority.

  • 30-50%

The anticipated salary range for this role in the California locality is between $131,914 to $164,824 per year – salary ranges for other geographic localities may vary. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus, and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are role based. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to receive and/or participate in profit sharing, allowances, travel and/or car expenses, and earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization depending on the terms of the employee’s role and individual offer details. This role is eligible for a monthly Sales Incentive plan on a 80/20 split. The role is eligible to participate in a comprehensive and competitive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, disability, PTO, holiday pay, and 401k.
