CHC is seeking a capable experienced surveyor to join our team. In this position, you will perform surveying functions (land and hydrographic) in a safe and effective manner to ensure the timely completion of projects.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct Field data collection, setting horizontal and vertical controls, topographical surveys, construction stakeout, and as-built surveys
  • Setting/checking benchmarks
  • Perform Post survey field data analysis
  • Perform Construction layout calculations.
  • Topographic/Volume analysis
  • Ability to perform hydrographic, topographic, and construction surveys.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities and work environments as well as adverse conditions.
  • Working knowledge of Trimble, Sokkia, Topcon, or Leica and robotic equipment.
  • Ability to install and calibrate GPS systems on earth-moving equipment.
  • Create, manage, and maintain project layout and construction data and perform and assist with Quality Control on data produced.
  • Heavy civil work experience is desired.
  • Follow safety guidelines per company specifications.

 

 Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 4 years of related work experience.
  • Auto cad and Civil3D experience is a must. HYpack experience preferred.
  • An associate or bachelor's degree, in Civil Engineering or Land Surveying, is preferred
  • Knowledge of general contract and subcontract documents, drawings, specifications, and surveying instruments
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights, frequently lift materials weighing up to 70 lbs, and work in outside all weather conditions
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, shop drawings, procedure manuals, and safety rules
  •  Thorough understanding of the methods and calculations involved in leveling, traversing, topo surveys, construction surveys, mapping, and determining volumes.
  • Candidates should be highly motivated have strong attention to detail, be self-sufficient, and be able to work independently in the field.
  • Ability to perform field work including travel and weekends, and the physical ability to lift objects over 50lbs
  • Experience with data acquisition systems including multibeam, single beam, side scan, inertial navigation, and sub-bottom profilers preferred
  • Candidates with a small vessel and coastal waterways experience are preferred
  • Strong knowledge of geophysical instrumentation, bathymetric echo sounders, and land-based survey equipment a plus
