Job Description: The San Antonio Express-News seek an experienced photojournalist who is highly proficient in video as well as still photography across a wide variety of subject matter.

What will you do?

• Shoot still and video photographer on assignment across Central and South Texas
• Practice photojournalism according to the highest standards of fairness and accuracy, without injecting personal or political agendas into your work
• Support the paper’s strategy to find creative ways of connecting with viewers online through video
• Commit to the mission of leveraging photojournalism to drive reader engagement and new subscriptions on digital platforms

What will it take to be successful?

The Express-News is known for a documentary focus and a commitment to narrative storytelling. The successful candidate will be adept at both.

Additionally:

• South-Central Texas is a racially and culturally diverse region. You must be able to connect with people and handle emotionally difficult stories as they arise.
• The staff uses Canon mirrorless equipment, Mac laptops, Photoshop, Photomechanic, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Bridge and more.  Proficiency with those programs is a must.
• You must have a reliable personal vehicle and the ability to work and transmit while in the field.
• You must have 5 to 10 years of experience in daily journalism
• Your portfolio must emphasize both still and video journalism.
