The Shop Technician will play a crucial role in the performance and availability of our equipment. This position will be responsible for but not limited to the following: perform or assist with Bronto scheduled maintenance, unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, mounting, and repairs. This position will be based in Abilene, TX and you will report to the Shop Service & Assembly Manager. If at any time your status does not meet the criteria listed in the Job Requirements section, then your position and pay will be adjusted accordingly.

Essential Functions:
- Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
- Perform Bronto scheduled maintenance in accordance with checklists
- Perform or assist with large scale Bronto repairs and unscheduled maintenance
- Perform and assist with troubleshooting of the Brontos in the Abilene facility
- Perform testing on equipment after maintenance and repairs
- Assist with Bronto mounting
- Perform or assist with fabrication when needed
- Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
- Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- General knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
- Demonstrates good working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems
- Experienced in mechanical principles
- Operation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systems
- Equipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
- Ability to operate a conventional forklift
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
- The ability to operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle quickly and repeatedly to exact positions
- The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
- The ability to read, write, and understand information
- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- One year of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience required; three or more years preferred
- Fabrication experience is a plus
- Heavy equipment experience is a plus
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Travel:
- Must live in Abilene or surrounding area
- Must have an active and valid driver’s license acceptable by insurance standards
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
- Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
- Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment
- Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
- Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
Work Environment:
- Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts
- May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
- Noise level may be loud at times
- Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
- Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
- Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
