Description

Atlantic Cape Community College seeks qualified adjunct instructors to deliver high-quality flight training in our sUAS Applied Flight Lab course. This position involves supervising students in applied flight operations on our designated NIST Open Test Range, ensuring safety, skill development, and professional conduct.

The successful candidate will be added to our pool of qualified instructors and may be contacted as teaching opportunities arise throughout the academic year.

Compensation: $780 per contact hour

Examples of Duties

AVIT 137: sUAS Applied Flight Lab

  • Facilitate a weekly 2-hour in person applied flight lab using Atlantic Cape’s NIST- test range.
  • Deliver structured lab instruction following the weekly course schedule and curriculum provided by the College.
  • Supervise flight operations and ensure compliance with all safety procedures, airspace requirements, and Atlantic Cape’s Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Guide students as they complete hands-on sUAS flight activities, including standard maneuvers, precision operations, and professional recordkeeping.
  • Provide supportive coaching to help students accumulate documented flight hours toward their degree requirements.
  • Collaborate with student workers supporting the test range and maintain accountability for equipment and flight logs.

Typical Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Aerospace, Engineering, sUAS, or a related technical field (preferred), OR
  • Associate degree and 2–3 years of documented professional sUAS flight experience.

Required

  • FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Part 107).

Preferred

  • Experience working with NIST Open Test Ranges or conducting standardized flight evaluations. (Training will be provided for applicants without prior NIST range experience.)
  • Teaching, coaching, or instructional experience in aviation, flight operations, or technical fields.
