What You Will Be Doing
The Project Manager is responsible for successful management of project scope, budget, schedule, cash flow and client satisfaction. They will work closely with the client, sales and the engineering team to execute projects. The position requires mastery of the following project activities: contracts, scope of a project in detail and planning for the successful execution of that scope using the resources available.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
· Consistently manages projects for at least two million in backlog (roughly 15 or more projects) while balancing profitable and successful delivery.
· Establish and maintain plans for the success of automation projects including scope, schedule, cash-flow, budget, and client satisfaction.
· Drive quality assurance audits throughout the execution of each project.
· Communicate resourcing needs to department managers in a timely manner.
· Monitor and direct the work of project team members.
· Communicate status with clients.
· Negotiate change orders with clients.
· Manage client expectations
· Understand and communicate monthly milestone and percent complete values are correct for invoicing.
· Review and approve charges to projects
· Create work breakdown structures for projects
· Work with accounting to verify project schedules are accurate for revenue projections.
· Work with purchasing to ensure parts are being purchased on time and project plans are being updated with timing of purchases.
· Create preliminary project plans and labor estimates and adjust as needed.
· Act as the liaison between the customer and the project team
· Work with sales on proposals and estimates
· Create, follow and update project schedules
· Participate in improvement efforts for project management process efficiency.
· Interact with vendors and suppliers to understand their products and pricing structures.
· Lead kickoff meetings, 30, 60, 90 reviews and other customer meetings.
· Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor of Science degree preferably in a technical field such as mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering or equivalent experience (2+ years)
· At least five years of experience in the Industrial Automation industry.
· At least five years of project management experience in the industrial automation industry.
Skills and Abilities
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including but not limited to: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Proficient in Microsoft Project
· Excellent organizational skills
· Strong leadership skills

· Understand I&C construction specifications
· Strong math skills
· Basic business knowledge including markup, margins, overhead costs, unit costs, etc.
· Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings
· Basic knowledge of Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Inductive and, Wonderware products
· Basic knowledge of industrial control components including relays, terminal blocks, etc.
· Basic knowledge of industrial instrumentation including flow, pressure and analytical instruments
