Position: Utility Scale Solar Project Developer
Location: Any Texas region with preference for Houston
Position Summary
The Project Developer will develop and manage our client's solar and BESS project portfolio across the ERCOT region through coordinate and review the work of multiple development functions, consultants, and others with remote, distributed team. This position will work closely with interconnection, permitting, real estate, GIS and engineering team to achieve project and company goals.
Daily responsibilities include coordinating and reviewing work across multiple development activities ranging from outside consultants and legal advisers, to internal team members. Internally, Project Developer will work with a cross-functional team consisting of interconnection managers, a permitting department, real estate team, and engineering teams in a hybrid environment. Project Developer is ultimately responsible for guiding the team to achieve project and company goals as it pertains to the development and deployment of solar and BESS assets in ERCOT.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop viable and economically sustainable new and existing solar and BESS projects at the megawatt scale from site identification through the start of construction
- At the project level, development coordination efforts include managing the zoning and permitting efforts with local and regional government entities, coordinating and complying with the results from environmental studies, understanding surface and subsurface land rights in order to ensure compliance across the full spectrum of development activities.
- Select, manage, and direct third party consultants and development partners by generating proposals, quotes, and formal RFP responses
- Develop the target scope of work for a cross-functional team and ensure projects are progressing on schedule and within budget while considering inputs from legal, finance, and executive teams to ensure company goals are met.
- Remain abreast of renewable energy opportunities in the United States and the national industry trends impacting the future of solar and renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred
- Strong knowledge of the solar and BESS with 3-5 years of project development experience in similar /adjacent project development context
- Successful track record in a complex management environment with the ability to skillfully manage schedules, identify and resolve potential issues, and prioritizing project critical tasks
- Self-motivated and able to lead and follow within a cross-functional team environment. Be a great teammate who takes initiative and direction equally well
- Comfortable making sound business decisions in a quickly changing environment while managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Filter information quickly to determine the most important issues to address on a project
- Ability to manage external business relationships with a customer first focus
- Excellent problem-solving and communication ability. willing and eager to adapt to constantly changing and competing priorities across through entire job function
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
