We are seeking an experienced Oil & Gas GIS Title Land Analyst to join our team. This role combines geographic information systems (GIS) expertise with oil and gas land title knowledge, supporting complex mapping and spatial analysis across multiple producing basins.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience mapping oil and gas title, leases, wells, and units with a strong understanding of regulatory and land frameworks in Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, and North Dakota. This position plays a critical role in supporting landmen, project managers, and clients by producing accurate mapping, spatial analysis, and data management for oil and gas land projects.

GIS Mapping & Spatial Analysis
Create and maintain detailed oil and gas mapping for leases, wells, units, tracts, pipelines, and mineral ownership
Interpret legal descriptions (ALI, metes and bounds, section-township-range) and convert them into spatial data
Produce title ownership maps, unit maps, drilling unit maps, and acreage position maps
Support Held By Production (HBP) analysis through spatial mapping and production overlays
Map and maintain leasehold, mineral ownership, and surface ownership datasets
Title & Land Data Integration
Work closely with landmen and title analysts to translate title opinions, run sheets, and title reports into GIS layers
Digitize tracts and leases from legal descriptions and courthouse records
Maintain spatial accuracy across projects involving multiple operators, leases, and pooled units
Identify title gaps, overlaps, and acreage discrepancies through spatial analysis
Multi-State Oil & Gas Mapping
Maintain mapping standards and datasets across Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, and North Dakota
Understand and apply state-specific survey systems and regulatory frameworks, including:
Public Land Survey System (PLSS)
Texas Abstract Survey System
State regulatory boundaries and spacing rules
Data Management & Visualization
Maintain GIS databases and ensure spatial data integrity
Create professional map exhibits, project maps, and visual reports for internal teams and clients
Support land and operations teams with GIS analysis for acquisitions, divestitures, and development planning
3–7+ years of GIS experience in the oil and gas industry
Strong experience mapping oil and gas assets in Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, and/or North Dakota
Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, and ESRI geospatial tools
Experience working with:
Oil & gas leases
Mineral ownership mapping
Drilling and spacing units
Well location mapping
Title and land datasets
Strong understanding of PLSS and Texas abstract survey systems
Ability to interpret legal land descriptions and convert them into accurate GIS datasets
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex spatial datasets
Experience supporting oil and gas title or land departments
Experience mapping Held By Production (HBP) acreage
Familiarity with regulatory data from state oil and gas commissions
Experience working with land data management systems
Ability to collaborate closely with landmen, title analysts, and project managers
