Curtis Media Group is seeking a skilled and dependable part-time News Photographer to capture compelling visuals of traffic accidents, breaking news, and roadside incidents for broadcast and digital platforms. This role is ideal for someone with a sharp eye for storytelling, a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to safely and efficiently operate in unpredictable environments. Key Responsibilities:
Respond quickly to traffic accidents, road hazards, and breaking news scenes.
Capture high-quality video and still photography that tells a clear and compelling story.
Work closely with assignment editors, reporters, and producers to provide timely visual content.
Ensure all footage adheres to ethical journalism standards and respects privacy/safety guidelines.
Edit and upload footage on tight deadlines for broadcast, web, and social media.
Maintain awareness of public safety and emergency responder protocols on active scenes.
Qualifications:
Experience operating professional video cameras and photography equipment.
Strong knowledge of traffic safety laws and best practices for working roadside.
Ability to stay calm and work efficiently in high-pressure, sometimes chaotic situations.
Excellent communication skills and situational awareness.
Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
Availability for early mornings, nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.
Preferred:
Previous news or breaking news photography experience.
Basic understanding of scanner traffic and public safety terminology.
Physical Requirements:
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
