This is a senior-level role for a licensed surveyor ready to lead teams, manage projects from concept to completion, and help shape the future of surveying services for major transportation and municipal infrastructure initiatives.
About the Role
As Licensed Land Surveyor / Project Manager, you’ll lead both field and office operations, overseeing survey deliverables for boundary, topographic, utility (SUE), and transportation projects. Your focus will be on delivering quality work, supporting business development efforts, mentoring junior staff, and representing the firm with clients and industry stakeholders.
You’ll manage multiple field crews, oversee QA/QC processes, guide proposal development, and have a direct impact on the success of public sector projects throughout the region.
What You’ll Do
- Supervise two or more field crews across various survey types and transportation projects
- Assemble field data, perform calculations, prepare plats and legal descriptions
- Oversee QA/QC compliance on deliverables and ensure schedules and budgets are met
- Serve as the client point-of-contact for active survey projects and pursuits
- Represent the firm at project meetings, client presentations, and industry events
- Mentor and develop survey staff through goal setting, feedback, and reviews
- Collaborate with business development teams on proposals and growth strategy
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in at least one U.S. state, or ability to obtain licensures in the primary work state within six months (exam fees covered)
- Minimum 8 years of progressive land surveying experience, including transportation-related projects (DOT, roadway, or municipal infrastructure)
- Proficiency in MicroStation / OpenRoads or AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong understanding of state and federal survey standards, including QA/QC protocols
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a 7-year background screen
- Authorization to work in the U.S. (or TN visa eligibility)
Preferred Experience
- Multi-state PLS licensures
- Experience with Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) surveys
- Familiarity with aerial/LiDAR/sUAS technologies and data
