Position Overview
As a Licensed Land Surveyor / Manager, you will oversee field and office operations for transportation and municipal survey projects throughout the region. You’ll lead multiple field crews, ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards, build client relationships, and support business development efforts across the Survey discipline.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the daily work of multiple survey field crews and office technicians
- Lead QA/QC efforts across all deliverables, managing budgets, schedules, and client expectations
- Serve as primary point-of-contact for public agency clients, including VDOT and local municipalities
- Guide proposal development, participate in project pursuits, and cultivate long-term client relationships
- Mentor and coach staff through one-on-one development planning and regular performance feedback
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or eligible to sit for the PLS exam within 6 months of hire (exam support provided)
- 12+ years of experience in land surveying, with 5+ years in a leadership or supervisory capacity
- Demonstrated experience with DOT and municipal survey projects, especially roadway and utility corridors
- Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local surveying regulations
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in subsurface utility locating/designating (SUE)
- Familiarity with LiDAR, aerial mapping, or small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) operations
