Description

This Lead Thermal Engineer position is with Kysor-Warren Epta, part of the global Epta Group, located in Columbus, Georgia. As a valued member of the Product Development team, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and validating innovative refrigeration systems using natural refrigerants like CO₂ and propane. Your contribution:

  • Lead the design and development of refrigeration systems with a focus on natural refrigerants (CO₂, propane).
  • Perform thermodynamic modeling and simulations to evaluate system performance.
  • Identify and implement innovative technologies that improve energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
  • Create and execute test plans, analyze results, and ensure alignment with industry standards and customer expectations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, service, and controls teams to deliver high-quality, reliable solutions.
  • Support field deployment and troubleshooting during product validation and launch.
  • Ensure product compliance with relevant standards and regulations (UL, CSA, ASHRAE, etc.).
  • Work with internal and external partners to research and evaluate new technologies and components.

Your journey:

You bring curiosity, adaptability, and a problem-solving mindset to every project. You enjoy working collaboratively across disciplines and take pride in delivering high-quality, thoughtful solutions. Additionally, you have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in refrigeration, HVAC, or thermal system design and analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and refrigeration cycles.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as MATLAB, Excel, and system simulation software (e.g., EES, Aspen).
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as UL, ASHRAE, and CSA.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
