Description

Our Retail Center of Excellence laboratory in Lowell, AR  helps make the world a safer, more secure, and sustainable place to live, work, and play.

In this role, a Laboratory Assistant will photograph new and existing retail products as they are tested by our experienced testing technicians. Photography experience is not required.



Responsibilities
  • Builds and/or adapts basic setup and test equipment for performance of tests.
  • Performs tests using general laboratory equipment.
  • Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area.
  • Operates computer terminal to extract/input readily available information and to use available software.
  • As directed follows defined test plans and datasheets.
  • Evaluates test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results.
  • Records and explains test results.
  • Reads and interprets results of tests.
  • Prepares charts, graphs and reports to explain test results.
  • Examines test samples, reads measuring instruments and reviews test data with supervisor.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and operational instructions.
  • As instructed examines customer samples and learns to operate basic tests for each case.
  • Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
  • Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed.
  • Receives instructions from and reports data to  engineers and other laboratory technician staff.
  • Records observed or calculated data on appropriate data sheets.
  • Develops working knowledge of the job, methods, instrumentation and systems.
  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
  • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time, photographing incoming test samples.
  • Transport items up to 75 pounds between departments, with or without assistance.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications
  • Preferred: Higher Secondary Education. 
  • Required: Effective communication skills and ability to interact with customers.
  • Required: Desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Required: Ability to use Microsoft Office suite comfortably.
  • Required: Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday in Lowell, AR.
