DescriptionOur Retail Center of Excellence laboratory in Lowell, AR helps make the world a safer, more secure, and sustainable place to live, work, and play.
In this role, a Laboratory Assistant will photograph new and existing retail products as they are tested by our experienced testing technicians. Photography experience is not required.
Responsibilities
- Builds and/or adapts basic setup and test equipment for performance of tests.
- Performs tests using general laboratory equipment.
- Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area.
- Operates computer terminal to extract/input readily available information and to use available software.
- As directed follows defined test plans and datasheets.
- Evaluates test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results.
- Records and explains test results.
- Reads and interprets results of tests.
- Prepares charts, graphs and reports to explain test results.
- Examines test samples, reads measuring instruments and reviews test data with supervisor.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and operational instructions.
- As instructed examines customer samples and learns to operate basic tests for each case.
- Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
- Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed.
- Receives instructions from and reports data to engineers and other laboratory technician staff.
- Records observed or calculated data on appropriate data sheets.
- Develops working knowledge of the job, methods, instrumentation and systems.
- Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
- Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time, photographing incoming test samples.
- Transport items up to 75 pounds between departments, with or without assistance.
- Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
- Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications
- Preferred: Higher Secondary Education.
- Required: Effective communication skills and ability to interact with customers.
- Required: Desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Required: Ability to use Microsoft Office suite comfortably.
- Required: Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday in Lowell, AR.
