A day in the life
Step onto a busy test floor in Missouri where complex thermal management units await their final validation. As a Flextrades EOL technologist, your morning may start with glycol, nitrogen, and helium integrity checks on freshly brazed piping. Midday brings hi-pot verification to ensure insulation holds under stress, followed by meticulous wiring checks across all 28 fans on each unit. As the sun shifts, you move outdoors to commission refrigerant systems—charging each build with R-1234ze by weight, current, and pressure—then pushing controlled amperage to condenser fans to confirm rotation and performance. Your day wraps with water loop cycling (hot/chilled) to validate chiller behavior, plus targeted testing of boilers and filter dryers at specific PSIs, while deciphering VFD fault codes to close out test records.

- Cycle hot and chilled water through test loops to confirm chiller performance.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues (mis-wired components, poor terminations, etc.).
- Push varying amperage to condenser fans to confirm functionality and direction.
- Execute boiler, chiller, and filter dryer testing at specified PSIs.
- Interpret fault codes and parameters from VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).
What you bring
- EPA 608 Universal Certification for refrigerant handling.
- Background in industrial HVAC (chillers, boilers, fans, pumps).
- Solid command of 3-phase power, VFDs, and high-voltage safety.
- Ability to work from non-sequential test reports and tribal knowledge; you take notes and learn from verbal direction.
- Comfort in indoor/outdoor environments and at heights.
- Willing to work overtime as needed, including extended hours to complete test cycles.
- Basic computer skills (Excel) for data entry and documenting tests.
- Physically able to lift and maneuver equipment safely; use team lift or mechanical assist for items over 50 lbs.
