Position Overview

This position is responsible for managing and overseeing day-to-day survey operations that support the design, construction and rehabilitation of county roadways and bridges. Responsibilities may include: providing professional surveying services (i.e., gather, analyze, interpret & certify survey data for projects); supervising assigned survey field crew on quality and survey methodology; overseeing and managing complex survey projects, while coordinating project activities with other departments; managing boundary/centerline plats for easements, and acting as the lead worker over survey field crew.Β 

Summary of Job Duties

Manages the day-to-day operations of field survey initiatives for the county including supervising assigned crews, managing projects, coordinating projects with other departments, and managing technical aspects of survey work as a lead worker. Directs or conducts surveys in order to obtain survey data for engineering projects. Establishes legal boundaries for properties based on legal deeds and titles. Develops criteria for survey methods and procedures.Documents and prepares data using Global Positioning Systems (GPS), computer aided drafting, and other technologies.Analyzes data and surveys for the purposes of preparing plats of survey and legal descriptions for right-of-way acquisition, developing reports, maps, and other documents for the county.Researches ownership and county legal documentation to supplement field research activity.Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Land Surveying or other related field; 6 years related work experience. Registered Professional Surveyor, or capable of being licensed having already passed the fundamentals of surveying exam.
