Job Summary:

Our client is seeking an experienced cybersecurity professional with a strong background in federal IT systems security, NIST standards, and process improvement to join their team in a part-time (~20 hours/week), hybrid role. This position offers flexible hours, with the expectation to attend some meetings during standard business hours (8 a.m.-5 p.m. Eastern).

Position Overview: In this role, you will support the FAA by providing expertise in business process improvement, quality assurance, and knowledge management. You will collaborate with technical teams to translate requirements and standards into consistent, high-quality, and repeatable processes that sustain program success. Additionally, you will apply your change management experience to support the transition from a legacy system to a new, modernized platform.

About the Mission: This position supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the agency responsible for ensuring the safety of more than 45,000 flights and 3 million passengers navigating over 28 million miles of U.S.-controlled airspace daily. Beyond managing civilian air traffic and safety oversight, the FAA plays a critical role in national security coordinating closely with the Department of Defense and other federal agencies through the strategic use of aviation tools and data.

Key Responsibilities:

A successful candidate must have a minimum of 15 years of experience and be demonstrate proficiency in:

  • Lead process improvement efforts focused on IT security and compliance
  • Apply NIST standards and other federal cybersecurity frameworks to ensure adherence across systems and documentation
  • Partner with FAA technical teams to translate cybersecurity requirements into actionable processes and procedures
  • Oversee security documentation, including CSAM, POAMs, and system categorizations
  • Support change management initiatives during the transition to new systems
  • Ensure quality assurance in all security and compliance deliverables
  • Maintain knowledge management systems for security-related processes

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (required)
  • Minimum 15 years of IT security / cybersecurity experience, preferably in federal environments
  • Demonstrated experience with NIST security controls and federal IT system compliance
  • Experience with security documentation such as CSAM, POAMs, and FISMA-related requirements
  • Experience with business process improvement, quality assurance, and knowledge management
  • Experience collaborating with technical teams to translate requirements and standards into consistent, high-quality, and repeatable processes
  • Experience leading and supporting change management initiatives
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Familiarity with software development processes and environments
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • Must possess a valid, current REAL ID or U.S. Passport

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
  • Professional certification in Scrum, PMP, or Security (e.g., CompTIA Security+)

Work Requirements: PART TIME Hybrid position

  • May work remotely; flexible hours with requirement to attend some meetings each week during regular business hours of 8am-5pm Eastern
