Director Survey & ROW - Land Surveyor

Experience:

20 - 40 Years

Must Have:

• Registered Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in Indiana or similar state (required).
• 20+ years of experience in land surveying with increasing responsibility, preferably with a strong focus on public infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience with ALTA/NSPS surveys, boundary surveys, legal descriptions, topographic surveys, and INDOT right-of-way engineering.
• Strong knowledge of INDOT standards, LCR preparation, field book management, and CAD-based plan development.
• Proficient in relevant software tools (MicroStation, OpenRoads, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, etc.).
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership to the Survey and Right-of-Way department, including staff development, resource planning, and quality control.
• Oversee INDOT topographic surveys, boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, legal descriptions, and right-of-way engineering.
• Lead the preparation and review of LCRs, field notes, survey base maps, plats, and ROW acquisition documents.
• Serve as the firm’s expert on surveying standards, INDOT procedures, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with field crews and CAD technicians to ensure accuracy and efficiency in deliverables.
• Manage client relationships and provide technical support during proposal development and project execution.
• Work with leadership to grow the department and pursue new business opportunities.
