The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Destination Services Manager (GFLCVB Manager).
General Description
Performs complex, professional services and supervisory work of dynamic programs and partnership management at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau (GFLCVB). Works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university n business, marketing, communications, hospitality, journalism, or field relevant to area of assignment.
Requires four (4) years marketing, journalism, business, hospitality, event services, communications, or closely related experience with a minimum three (3) years' experience planning and executing complex, large-scale conferences and/or events.

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
This position will be responsible for a team of in-house staff focused on in-market servicing of groups booked through Visit Lauderdale's sales efforts. These events can vary from small, single facility events to large city-wide conventions. Developing strategy, implementing effective systems and procedures, delivering on service promises, and empowering staff through leadership and support are necessary abilities for the successful candidate.
This position serves as a primary day-to-day point of contact for industry partners (hotels, attractions, restaurants, retail, etc.), and as such serves as one of the most visible members of the team.
This position will be responsible for planning and executing events both large and small. For example, Broward County will be hosting IPW 2026 and this position will be responsible for planning major components of that event. The successful candidate will have experience planning and executing complex, large-scale conferences and/or events.
Management functions in this position include building and leading a team, participating in the development of the department's annual budget and annual strategies, planning and communicating purchases and other administrative needs in advance, and communicating the department's successes and opportunities regularly with the appropriate upper management.
Servicing events and conventions is a dynamic function; the appropriate candidate will be willing and able to easily adapt to and implement last-minute changes.
Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM (Simpleview or similar), Cvent, EmpowerMINT, LinkedIn.
This position will assist in various emergency functions as-assigned before, during, and after a disaster. This includes, but is not limited to, working at a Broward County Emergency Operations Shelter during a hurricane.
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
