Summary:
The Ophthalmic Photographer is responsible for performing photographic angiograms and tomograms in order to diagnose retinal diseases. The photographer has an in-depth understanding of protocol requirements associated with each retinal condition, advanced knowledge of imaging hardware/software, and facility in dealing with technical support to correct imaging hardware/software problems. The individual is proficient in the following photography tests: Fluorescein Angiography (FA), Indocyanine Green Angiography (ICG), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT).
Role and Responsibilities:
• Greets patients in a cordial, friendly and prompt manner; accompanies patients to photo room
• Verifies patient information and makes necessary documentation to patient charts
• Obtains all appropriate consent forms
• Captures patient imagine by using specialized equipment
• Monitors patients' conditions and reactions during the imaging process
• Manages duplicates, proper image-archiving and storage; escalates any problems or concerns to management
• Contributes to maintaining a clean and sterile environment
• Performs ad-hoc tasks in support of the clinical department as needed
• Performs imaging in support of the Clinical Research Department as needed
• Maintains compliance with all practice procedures and protocols
Essential Qualifications:
Education: High school graduate or GED required.
Experience: 2-5 years of experience working in a medical environment. Clinical experience within Ophthalmology preferred but not required.Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
- Accredited training program preferred but not required
- Knowledge of applicable computer applications/medical terminology
- Superior level of customer service and friendly demeanor
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with patients, physicians, clinicians and administrators
